Dan Heger
Head Men's Soccer Coach

Dan Heger came to Hardin-Simmons as a player for his senior season in 1979 when he was captain and led the team to a No. 3 ranking in the Midwest Region as a Division I team. He has remained associated with the program on some level since then, even sending players to Hardin-Simmons even when he was a coach at the high school level.

Heger is now in his 17th season as the Cowboys’ head coach and he is the school’s all-time wins leader with a record of 161-93-39. He has led the Cowboys to five American Southwest Conference titles (2005, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2014). In 2009, he led the Cowboys to the Sweet 16, becoming the first ASC team to reach that level of the NCAA Tournament. He also coached the Cowboys to a league-record 22-game unbeaten streak in conference play and to 14 conference tournaments.

He and wife Cylinda, who is also a Hardin-Simmons graduate, have been married for 36 years. They have two children Harrison and Hannah. Harrison is married to Chelsy and they have two children, Harlow and Hutton. Hannah is married to Corbin Gardner and they are both HSU graduates.

Heger is committed to the positive difference a Hardin-Simmons education can make in the life of a soccer player.
